Our focus is living for Jesus Christ. We believe in the teachings embraced by followers of Christ since the beginning of the Christian Church. We believe that "The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God's revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy" (Baptist Faith and Message).
Our mission is presenting, in various ways, the good news about Jesus Christ; that He has provided the way to a full and free relationship with God for all who turn from their sin and put their trust in him as Savior and Lord. As Christ followers, we become part of God's family. The local Christ-centered, gospel-centered church is an earthly expression of that family, so we are part of each other's lives, encouraging one another and serving together as we seek to become more and more like Jesus.
Our approach is people-driven, not program-driven. People matter to God, and matter to us, so we work at truly being family of brothers and sisters in Christ to those of like faith, and approachable neighbors and friends to those around us who do not share it.
Our Pastor, Joel Stoddert, is a Vermont native with roots here in the Northeast Kingdom. He has served six churches in various leadership roles, four as pastor. Pastor Joel and Aprile have been with us since 2014. Pastor Joel, a 1989 graduate of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, is active locally and with the Baptist Churches of New England: Vermont. Aprile is also active in the local Christian community and is a longtime children's ministry leader. Both are avid readers and movie buffs. They share their 180-year old home with their little dog (and church mascot!), Sophie.
